The Story

“She felt she needed to change her looks to be accepted.”

i. The Friend

The products she used to get there destroyed her skin.

She was told, in a thousand quiet ways, that who she was would not be enough. So she reached for the things that promised to change her — and they took something from her that was never theirs to take.

We watched it happen. And we could not accept that this was the price of being seen.

ii. The Sister

She lives with chronic eczema.

Reactive skin that flares without warning. A body that reacts to almost everything the shelves offer. For her, there was no gentle luxury — only clinical, cold, and fragranced products that made the promise worse.

So we made Eczema Calm. The quietest collection in the house — because calm cannot be loud.

iii. The Daughter

She dreamed of building her own luxury brand. She passed at thirty.

She had the vision, the taste, the belief that African beauty deserved the finest expression. She did not get the years to build it.

Shelamor is, in part, her dream continued. Her name lives inside this one.

The founder, in her world
iv. Koko

SHELAMOR. She-la-mor. A name made from love.

The middle names of the founder’s daughter and her granddaughter, Koko — woven into a single word that exists nowhere else on earth in this form.

Kids by Koko carries her name forward. It is African in origin, feminine in sound, ancient in feeling — and it sounds like something that heals.

This is why Shelamor exists.
